      • If the tying players have the same score for the last round, then
card matching for the last 18 holes is employed, the same as a
        single competition round.
    • For a single round competition (18 holes)
      • The winner is determined based on the score for the last nine
holes, last six holes, last three holes and finally the 18th hole in
        turn.
      • If there is still a tie, then the last six holes, and final hole of the
first nine holes will be considered in turn.
      • For single round competitions (rounds over less than nine holes) holes played, last six holes played, last three holes played and finally the last hole played in turn.
  • In the event of lightning or adverse weather conditions making the
course unplayable, a klaxon will be sounded with one prolonged distinct blast. Players must mark their ball and leave the course. Play will be resumed once the danger has passed or conditions improve and the klaxon will be sounded with two short distinct blasts to restart play. It may be necessary to abandon the competition, this will be decided by the committee taking into account the weather forecast, the remaining period of light, the numbers of players completed and the state of the course, this will be signified with three distinctive blasts.
  • When a competition in progress is cancelled, all monies will be refunded. A record of all fee paying players in cancelled competitions will be kept.

matters related to the Competition Rules as shown in this document.

Failure to Finish or Play in a Competition

The World Handicap System has strengthened the rules regarding failure to submit a score for a competition. Nil returns for reasons other than illness, an emergency, dangerous weather conditions, or for any other reason the committee considers valid, is considered to be against the spirit of the game of golf. Depending on the reasons for the nil return committees are now authorised to try to determine the score and submit it for handicap purposes if the minimum number of holes have been completed. If the minimum numbers of holes has not been completed or it is considered that the failure to submit a score has been for handicap manipulation purposes then a penalty score can be submitted. If a member repeatedly fails to submit cards and verbal warnings are ignored then the committee is authorised to consider stronger sanctions.

Due notice will, of course, be taken of health issues should cancellation on the day be unavoidable. Again, if a member cancels repeatedly, the Competition Secretary will refer the matter to the General Committee.
